The Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day (CMHAD) Texas Toolkit is a statewide anti-stigma campaign developed by Texas System of Care, designed to help communities and organizations hold their own Awareness Day events during the month of May (Children’s Mental Health Awareness Month). Our event toolkit is updated yearly to incorporate the national Awareness Day theme set by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and features planning checklists, themed artwork, social media messaging, example media releases, sample resolutions, and more!
Each year in May, SAMHSA’s National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day seeks to raise awareness about the importance of children’s mental health and show that positive mental health is essential to a child’s healthy development. Hundreds of communities and organizations across the country join in and also hold local Awareness Day events to further raise awareness about children’s mental health using the national theme.
